Mineo Yamamoto, master gyotaku printer from Japan, specializes in
the indirect art form. Spreading fabric over the fish, he carefully
applies ink with a silk tampo. This technique allows for the use
of a myriad of colours and broad artistic licence while retaining
an exact replica, scale by scale of the specimen.
